Diary Thursday 7th September 2017 A routine job club job searching day which was quite relaxing following on from three days of university volunteer work and training. There were interesting or positive job leads though sadly. Diary Friday 8th September 2017 Welfare hearing morning which is always wretched, and my advisor bored me with lengthy meandering anecdotes about shopping for garden lighting. It seemed to amount to trying to tell me how great life is with more money, the reward for actually working, as if I am too dim to know that. He then sprang a compulsory interview on me for a job two long bus rides away and involving working nights for an agency leading up to Christmas (even though I already have positive and better prospects of Xmas work anyway). I have no choice but to attend the interview on Tuesday. In the afternoon I visited the community centre for the Friday afternoon events there. This week many regular were attending a funeral for a lady who used to use the centre (which was providing a meal for the attenders later in the day). As I never met the lady who died (he had been ill and unable to attend from before I arrived in Preston. For those of us not attending the service, the centre showed a lovely movie, Life Of Pi, which I have reviewed elsewhere. We had a very nice buffet too. We were leaving just as the funeral attenders were returning after the service, which I was assured went very well. I got some shopping in, after which I was too tired to go online at all. A rare day away from any evening computer activity. Arthur Chappell

I haven't seen Life of Pi but I've read the book. I didn't quite know what to make of the ending.

I've never seen Life of Pi. I've heard good things though.

@teamfreak16 beautiful movie with the best use of CGI of all time - the tiger looks incredibly real to the last detail

Well glad you may have some potential in jobs after doing some searches. Sorry their still making you go to the interview even though it's a longer ride for you. I hope something will come along soon that is closer to home.

Sounds like some good days although your advisor sounds a bit dim witted.

@peachpurple I don't work - welfare offer support for the unemployed but they look for every excuse not to pay

Thank you for this post, I have been wondering about getting help in finding a job but it has been a while since I was involved with any services. It's interesting to know what the experiences of others are like.
