Schools must get rid of homework

A school decided to get rid of homework and guess what? the students performed better. I remember how depressing my student life is because I was forced to do multiple homeworks while have to to memorize things for an exam. I was a kid then, I wan't to watch TV, play video games or play outside but I have no life because I have multiple homeworks. Oh I also have less sleep and I have to wake up 5:00 am in the morning. Imagine a school just decided to get rid of homework and the students performed better academically.
Flipping the classroom has made a significant impact on the students of Clintondale High School.

I almost failed out of highschool due to my resistance to homework... yet I did excellent on all of my tests. I don't see any reason not to ditch the afterschool headaches for these youngsters.. I feel that they will also have more time to enjoy their childhoods while they last... maybe things will also go back to the old way when kids used to play outside when they would actually have time to do it! I think this is great! -Mr. Anomaly

Homework actually takes away that time. Many kids also fail because after homework they are already too tired to review. Also many kids cheat on homework, they let their older siblings or do it for them.

@Mr_Anomaly Same here, I felt lucky because I performed greatly with no effort, until teachers started to check if we did our homework. School and all its related activities should have a daily time limit, a day can't be all about school. Those who need additional help should probably spend more time and do the homework, but it shouldn't be mandatory for everyone.

@sabtraversa Right? Why punish smart kids that way with homework from ALL of their classes... let them enjoy life while they can! It won't get easy once they're older!

Homework always felt like unpaid work for me. Children must learn and have fun while learning. If you can teach students properly, they won't need a lot of extra practice to perform well. The lessons and exercises I had in class were usually enough for me, but I got bad grades and comments/remarks (they were written by the teacher on the diary and a parent had to sign them) because I didn't do the homework.

During Highschool I have the longest and most depressing class ever, I have to go to school for PE and health classes. After class I have to do classes from 12 PM up to 7:30 in the evening and they expect me to do all the homework. You can also add the bullying and peer pressure I have to experience.

@sabtraversa Teachers experienced being students too. So I really dont know why they expect students to memorize all they needed for the exams and while flooding students with homework. When someone who is not a genius claimed they never cheat, I never believed them.

@CaptAlbertWhisker I know, I've been through similar stuff too. I started skipping tons of classes, I was literally afraid of my mental health. Then I gave up, once for all. If I had a chance to get back to school, I'd go there for insulting the system and threaten to murder whoever goes against me. I wouldn't last a week.

There is a country in Europe where they don't give homework to their students. And that country performs well in comparison with other countries when it comes to academic performance. So I guess home work is not necessary but rather the teaching method should be revised in order to achieve a better result.

@CaptAlbertWhisker Yeah you are correct. That is Finland. I saw this one in a documentary film titled "Where to Invade Next". The educational system really has to be fixed in order to achieve a greater result.

That country is Finland, They have the best educational system in the world. That country also does well because teachers are paid as high as doctors and lawyers. You can see they take education seriously.
