Fall Has It's Own Special Treats

There is another exciting thing about Autumn- it has its own special treats and foods that seem to come out now and stay popular till Winter. Aside from the in-season foods like fresh, local corn on the cob, apples, pumpkins and squashes as well as peaches, we get to have all those lovely foods made from this bounty. Many people start baking with apples and peaches but my fave is pumpkin pies, soups, etc. Besides being so good for you, pumpkin tastes great. Real bakers will start with the pie pumpkin and use the inside flesh to create delicious pies! My mom used to do this but alas! she never taught me. I do make the odd pumpkin pie but use the canned variety which still tastes great if you have a tasty recipe. Although the apple pie is delicious and more people prefer it- I'm a pumpkin pie lady for life! Try it with a little vanilla ice cream or a dab of whipped cream and you will most certainly agree! @andriaperry Look at this recipe, it's very similar to the one I prepare.
Here's a recipe for making pumpkin jam. It is very easy to make, you just need to pay some attention. Plus, there is also a bonus!

I do like pumpkin pie but use the canned stuff too when I make mine. I remember my mom using the flesh from a real pumpkin when we were kids but that's just too much work for me. I love almost any type of pie. I also like to make pumpkin muffins along with homemade apple sauce if we have an abundance of apples. Butternut squash soup is my favorite soup for the Fall weather

I heard you can't post recipes here for some reason- but if you could- I would ask for your squash soup recipe as I love Butternur squash and never made a soup yet from it.

When it comes to pumpkin pie, it would be the no-bake pumpkin pie. It's very good.

Definitely apple pie is one of my favourites. I had a bad experience with pumpkin when I was young. But I am happy you're in the season to enjoy your favourite pie. :)

You should give it one more time from a trusted pie source or one your family members like.

Fall is my favorite season of the year, and it's because of pumpkin pie! I crave pumpkin pie all year long. And yes, I know you can buy pumpkin pies all year long or even canned pumpkin, but it's not the same when it's not the proper season!

@MarymargII Unfortunately, I am lactose intolerant, so I have to skip the whipped cream/ice cream on my pumpkin pie (Although I will admit I do cheat every now and then and sneak a few bites)

Yes, tis the season for pies. I'm not real big on sweets but I do love a pumpkin pie if there isn't too much sugar used. I too miss mom's pies, she never used too much sugar so I could always taste the apple, pumpkin, plum(the little blue ones) and berries. She had such a talent for such things but like you she didn't teach me, she had no patience for me and when I was 11 I was much more interested in playing outside than staying indoors to learn how to bake.
