Favorite City Songs #1 - "London Calling"

No surprises here. We are at #1 in my Favorite City Songs series, which is songs with a city in the title (an idea that I've stolen from @FourWalls, who did it first.) The top spot in the countdown belongs to "London Calling" by The Clash. The title track from the band's 1979 album (their third,) "London Calling" is a punk classic, a protest song that covers a multitude of subjects, including nuclear power, the potential flooding of the Thames River, police brutality, and even the state of punk rock in England. All in just over three minutes. The song was released as a single three different times, with it's peak at #11 in the UK upon it's first release. It's only US chart action came in 1980, when it reached #30 on Billboard's Hot Dance Club Play chart (which is odd, because "London Calling" isn't exactly a dance song.) It is, however, a big reason that The Clash was referred to as "The only band that matters." I've linked to the official video. Enjoy! (Info verified by Wikipedia)
