I migraine pretty much every day and have done for almost 3 years. The NHS aren't bothered and are no help. I have another appointment at the hospital next week. These migraines have stopped me being to work a regular 9-5. I was a secretary. I've tried pretty much everything I can think of. Does anyone here have any tips or ideas on how to stop these?

I greatly reduce the sugar in my diet and that stopped them cold. But I think we are all different.

@SerenityEngel So sorry wish I could help. My sister gets lots of migraines and takes some preventative for it, it reduces the number of migraines she has every month. Her trigger is chocolate.

I had all my allergies tested. I have LOTS of food allergies, but that never made any difference sadly.

@fishtiger58 I'm allergic to dairy, so chocolate is a trigger for me, but I stopped that about 15 years ago. I take preventative meds, but they don't work for me. They ease the severity a bit, but they have not stopped these migraines.

Eat almonds. For some reason, it works.

For your migraines and overall better health increase the amount of magnesium in your diet. It helped me a lot. Eat spinach, beans and other foods with lots of magnesium. Some people get relief with essential oils. They rub peppermint or basil oil at the base of their skull and at their temples. I hope you get some relief.

I was taking magnesium tablets for quite some time. I have gotten out of the habit of taking them. I'm sure they are in the bathroom cabinet. i'll have to get those back out. I had heard of peppermint oil. I haven't gotten any yet.

I used to have migraines regularly but now that my life is less stressful I don't have them any more. Good luck.

I think mine is due to hormones. Trying to get the NHS to accept that and help is proving a problem

@thehousewife They did one hormone test on me and it was normal. I hear that you have to be tested every week really to try and catch your hormones when they are off balance. My problem is that I live alone, so I can't work, but at the same time, I need to bring in money. So I'm trying to deal with migraines (and the other med problems I have) and try to generate some income. I really need these migraines to stop so I can return to regular employment ASAP

I finally managed to get codeine. I have chronic pain anyway from one of my other med conditions, but just, I was given a box 100 15mg codeine. That has taken years!

I'm really sorry about that. All will be well. However have you tried these? Close your eyes and rest Warm up and massage your neck and temples Relax. Minimize stress

Yes. Mediation. Herbal treatments. Drinking lots of water. Massage. Reiki. Chiropractor. Even the meds from the doctor don't stop them.

@SerenityEngel That is very true and you do not have to rely on conventional medications.
