Didn't realize the wood was rotten!

In our sun room, in the past, my husband had bought those vinyl floor tiles and had replaced the old ones. When he did that, at the time, the wood under the floor tiles was fine. This happened around 5 years ago. Recently, my husband thought the floor tiles looked like they were getting old and faded, so he bought more vinyl floor tiles to replace the worn ones. What surprised him was when he pulled up a couple of the old floor tiles, there was mold on the wooden flat beams. He thinks it came due to water from rain coming in and hitting the floor due to leaks he hadn't noticed. So, now the job of replacing the floor tiles has become harder. He will need to replace the wooden base before he puts down the new floor tiles. He will also have to make sure all leaks are sealed so no more water leaks in., that could cause more mold.

It was a surprise. The wood sits right under a window that we could have sworn had no leaks. But, I guess water was getting in somehow.

My husband has seen that happen so many times in houses where they didn't realize there was a leak.

Well it is good thought that he discovered this and can now fix it. With time things just could have gotten worse.
