Round to it

We'll make up this week's menu and grocery list tonight. Tomorrow morning I'll buy food. I have browsed the good old Rodale cookbook and can't get inspired. Too often we fall back on spaghetti and chili for supper. Hmmmm. Something inspiring that features lentils? Kidney beans? Not getting my head wrapped around this today. I think of supper and my mind heads to images of those bags of Candy Corn. Yippers. Maybe its a good time to make a pot pie. Hot mashed potatoes plunked into mini pies is um..... just addictive. So maybe one supper is figured out. Only four to go....

@TiarasOceanView Pot pie isn't that hard to make. Just got to be in the mood to fiddle.

Lentils and ham makes a great soup. I like kidney beans with corn bread. So delicious. My daughter and I were just talking about Candy Corn yesterday. Mashed potatoes does sound good in a mini pie. Good eating there.

@celticeagle I'll remember you this coming Wednesday night. Thanks. I think we're having greens with it for balance.

I like a casserole at least once a week. It can be done withchicken or red meat. And I like to add big chunks of veggies.

@marguicha You add chicken or red meat. I'll add tofu. How about that?

We went 2 weeks with having spaghetti and hamburg least 3 times both weeks. We love it though so wasnt a problem. Our sale flyers didnt come in yesterday like they were supposed to so no idea what to put on our list yet.

@Courtlynn Often what I buy isn't on a sale flyer so I don't look at those. Spaghetti is a good go to and then there's those wide noodles that are so tasty- we call that goulash but its really another form of spaghetti.

@Courtlynn I find that stuff on sale is often things that should not be on my list. Hamburger Helper for instance- salt and more salt. Just buy your own noodles and burger if you have to have burger then add your own seasoning. Done. I guess I save money by not buying the coupon stuff much.

I need to plan a meal for Sunday when people will come for dinner. it will probably be pasta salad and maybe buttered carrots and green beans with sliced tomatoes or something similar. And maybe cobs of corn.

OMG, so we were not the only one who did that (fall back on spaghetti and chili for super!). These days, we changed the menu slightly.

@YrNemo Nope. You are not alone in the battle. LOL. Its hard work, coming up with a menu that is distinct from the previous ones.

@sallypup I often thought that if someone just set up the menu and ready all the ingredients for me, perhaps I wouldn't dislike cooking that much. How about you? (Thinking of the menu depresses me .)

@YrNemo I don't mind cooking. I feel challenged by writing up a menu plus it builds a little wall around me- I will eat that stuff then not worry about the crud that the store also sells.

That sounds good, except for the candy corn bit. Pot pies are always good.

@KristenH Just gads. The stores are crammed to the ceiling with Halloween candy now. Buy me! and me and hey, I'm lonesome over here!
