5 Things I Recommend for Vertigo Sufferers

Since being diagnosed in 2013 with tinnitus and hyperacusis, vertigo has been a big issue for me. Recently, my conditions have improved, enough that we could finally put some focus on my vertigo issue. Here are 5 Things I Recommend for Anyone with Vertigo 1. Don't Live in Silence. So many people have vertigo and live with this secret condition that can be easily fixed for some or managed. 2. Talk to Your Doctor. There is treatment for vertigo! Depending on the type of vertigo you have, a specialist could have you feeling better in no time. NOTE: (Don't try to cure yourself. Vertigo isn't a one size fits all condition. Each type has a specific treatment needed. If you try one that doesn't fit your condition, you could potentially make your vertigo worse.) 3. It's Important to be as Detailed and Open as Possible with Your Doctor. I know that seems like a given, but vertigo is a condition that can make one feel embarrassed about themselves. Mine had me walking down the street like I was drunk or on drugs... and I do neither! It's embarrassing stumbling around in public. 4. Don't Stop Treatment Early. If you stop your treatment too soon, your vertigo could come back. If you have to do exercises for "retraining your brain" you may need to do it the rest of your life, when necessary. The overall goal is that with time, these exercises could end your vertigo suffering, or at least minimize it, and give you a quicker recovery time. 5. Don't Change Your Diet Without Speaking to Your Doctor First. It's a well-known fact that our diet can affect our bodies. Those with migraine associated vertigo should speak to their doctor first. Your doctor can do a quick blood workup to make sure you're not deficient in anything that a vertigo specialist may ask you to remove from your diet. This could cause you more health issues down the road. Example; A vertigo specialist may ask you to remove dairy products from your diet. However, our teeth and bones get a lot of what we need from our dairy intake. Remember supplements are no match for getting what our bodies need from natural sources.. milk, eggs, fish, even our greens. You'll be happy to know, I've had a full assessment, treatment, and managed care plan put in place. I noticed improvement my first two weeks! My imbalance issue has been corrected and my vertigo is one where I will need to continue the exercises to minimize my vertigo and enhance quicker recovery time. It's been a big success. If you have vertigo, ask your doctor if vestibular therapy will work for you.

I have mild vertigo in the morning and it's only due to my very low blood pressure, nothing serious.

There are so many things that can give us vertigo. I'm glad you're isn't too serious, Anna.

@WendySpickerman My husband has a more serious problem, because it comes from the inner of his ear.
