Favorite Soundtrack Albums #10 - Times Square

Since I usually do two music series at the same time, I figure it's high time to start a new one, a countdown of, instead of focusing on particular songs, my Favorite Soundtrack Albums. As always, we'll begin at #10: Times Square. Produced by Bee Gee Robin Gibb and producer/songwriter/musician Blue Weaver, the soundtrack for the 1980 film, Times Square, is a double album that's packed with both original and existing punk and new wave songs. Check out some of the bands featured on this thing: the Pretenders, Roxy Music, Gary Numan, Talking Heads, Joe Jackson, XTC, the Ramones, and The Cure. And that's just a sample. The soundtrack, which fared better than the film, reached #37 on the Billboard 200, while the only single from the album, "Help Me" by Robin Gibb and Marcy Levy, stalled at #50 on the Billboard Hot 100. A friend of mine's wife owned this on vinyl. I'm not gonna say that we wore it out, but yeah, we wore it out. (Info verified by Wikipedia)

I haven't seen it. Been listening to the soundtrack since the 80's.

@teamfreak16 The soundtrack has outlived what is now an obscure movie.

Never heard of that movie, and that’s strange because I have friends who were seriously into Tim Curry (star of the movie) at the time. I looked at the track listing of the soundtrack, and I’d see that movie for the music in a heartbeat!!

I know. Scrolling through, it's like a who's who of early 80's alternative music.
