and you're here because ... ?

I went for my flu jab this morning. The lady with the pretty flowery shoes {not as pretty as the shoes I own} called my name and I went through.
And you're here because ... {pause} ... you donated your liver? she asked.
My kidney, said I.
Oh, that's right.
Honestly, every single year they question my reason for being there. I do qualify for the free flu jab, not just because I only have one kidney but also because Husband is immunosuppressed and me being ill could make him ill, even though he had the flu jab himself last week. And of course, him being ill could be the Death of Life with a Kidney. Oddly though, Husband doesn't really get ill. He *should* do; those pesky immunosuppressants should make him susceptible to everything doing the rounds, but I tend to get poorly more than him.
But they still make me feel that they think I'm wasting NHS money by not having it done in Tesco or whatnot, and paying ten pounds, or whatever it is, for the pleasure.
Anyway, my arm hurts now. Itchy hurts. Stupid needles. And because I'm thinking about it, my wrist is also hurting. And now my fingers are hurting with pins and needles. Stupid brain. I expect I'll still get some variation of the flu virus this year, despite the jab.

I am glad you have nicer shoes than the person who was mistaken Elizabeth.
I bet that does itch..I had never had a flu shot.
Good husband does not catch it then.

It isn't itchy anymore. Just a bit achey. I didn't even get a sticker for not crying!

Husband used to have a phobia of needles, but dialysis cured him of that! I don't mind needles, but at the same time I don't really like them. I don't hurt anymore, unless I touch the area. :)

@Poppylicious I am glad you do not hurt anymore. My husband is back to the hospital for more tests today, he is learning not to care about needles. Poor hubby.

All dull and dusted and the only pain now is when I touch the area where the needle poked in. :)

It's just achey now, but thank you. It will be just a distant memory by morning. :)

Very! My MiL had the same problem one year. It completely wiped her out and led to a kidney infection!

Just today a work mate said he had the flu jab and paid £10 to get it at a pharmacy.
I don't get ill and haven't had a sick day for way over ten years.
Probably because I got a lot of Shiiit when I was 19 and worked in a hospital...since then I've been illness free and have never had antibiotics etc.
If I was in your situation I'd be angry that anyone questioned me.
