A Sunny Day in Georgia

It's another beautiful sunny day in Georgia. Temperature in the high nineties. I've already had a long conversation with one sister and expecting a phone call from another one about our Thanksgiving dinner. We usually have our extended family dinner a week before the actual Holiday. We're trying to decide at which house we'll have dinner. We used to have it at one sisters church but it's farther away than some of us want to drive. My better half is trying to talk me into going out for dinner but I'm being stubborn. As you know I haven't felt well and I'm not going to risk eating heavy food at a restaurant. I'd much rather cook my own healthy food. I hope everyone has a good day.

Sometimes you just have to say no to those buffets, LOL. I am not sure if I will cook again and have family here or what, since Tony got sick last year I have not had a dinner party at all. Truthfully, I do not miss having them .

@RubyHawk I understand. I have one sister and one brother I see all the time, the others have wandered off to God knows where and I have no way to call them.

@andriaperry Famlies do lose track of each other. I remember my mother in law lost track of all her family but one day some of them pulled up in the yard. After that they visited each other.

We only have our family dinners at Thanksgiving and Christmas. It's when I see all my siblings. That's the only reason I care about it.

You are smart, restaurant food is never as good as home made.

I feel the same way @RubyHawk the only times I eat at restaurants is when I get a craving for Chili Relleno, I haven't learned how to make those

I think my home cooking is better for me right now. I've felt Better today and I don't want to jinx it.

Buffet food is often just warmed up and mediocre. Thanksgiving here will be quiet. A nice meal but just me and hubby.

Quiet is good too, Our immediate family will have dinner at my sons house but our extended family will have dinner at a siblings home unless something unexpected happens. Last year we missed it because of bad weather.

I agree with you. Eating at a restaurant for a holiday is not ideal. We did that a couple Thanksgivings ago and it was so impersonal.

@RubyHawk We were all at a long table. The only people I could talk to were the people next to me and across from me. I'm glad you won't do it again either.

@just4him That's the way it was with us. Some relatives I hardly got to speak to. It was very disappointing. I like to mingle and talk to everyone.

We tried thst once and as you say and we didn't get a chance to talk and visit as we usually do. Nobody liked it and we haven't done that again.

I had a green salad, eggplant, deviled eggs and green beans. We're vegetarian so eggs took care of the protein.

Lately, I feel the same way about eating out, it's just not like food made at home! We will maybe go to my son's house, for Thanksgiving, we're still undecided.

For our immediate family we go to my sons house every year. Our apartment is too small so he says. We had Holiday dinners here two years ago when his house was being remodeled and I'll admit it was a little crowded.

@RubyHawk We had Thanksgiving at our house, at the other place we lived. Only Chad and Kris came. It was nice, but my daughter's family wasn't able to come. Now, we go to her home, quite often.

Hope you get well soon. I am supposed to run some errands here, but like you, I am down at the moment. The rain weather seems to return to us again after 3 or 4 days going away.

Thanksgiving is one of my favorite holidays. It will be tough this year, though, because my mom is in assisted living. This will be our first year without her being home. We can go there and see her, but I want her here. She can't leave though because she has dementia and she won't behave for us. My dad is in bad health too. I hope you get to feeling better. Sometimes, those restaurants make the health issues worse because most do not try to prepare healthy foods.

I'm sorry about your mom. I remember the holidays after my mom passed away. It was a lonely time. I am feeling better and don't want to risk messing that up.
