I could have bought a light up battery powered magnifying glass ... but

I was looking at magnifying glasses as the one I own has a broken handle and the frame is cracked. Dropped it many times and it was finally time to replace it. Amazon has one for 11.99 as prime but I wanted to just get a regular one with no batteries. I get enough light and don't need to look at things in the dark so the light feature is not necessary for my uses. The one I am getting will be coming soon, within 2 days and it should be a good one and it has 10X magnification. Good for looking at maps, small print and details on surfaces and artwork. The one I bought was cheap. Only about 7.99 and ain't nothing fancy, just well made metal handle not plastic cause I hate plastic. Plastic breaks. I had to get a new pair of sunglasses to replace my Smith & Wesson shooter's glasses cause they snapped into three pieces a day ago and left me wearing a crappy pair of so called designer sunglasses with blue tinted lenses. I like amber lens colored glasses with UV protection and scratch resistance. That is basically what I would expect from quality sunglasses.

We have both types of magnifying glasses and then hubby got this one that attaches to the table with a light and all this stuff. He uses it for his coins and I think I'm going to try it out with my jewelry making. Glad you found one that you liked that will work for you.

I have to have it. There is so much that my eyes can't see well without it. Even looking inside my PC requires some magnification but then I see way too much dust.

Yes. It's good that there are some things that don't cost an arm and a leg .

When I get a magnifying glass; I like to get it without a light.

Actually I do also. The light comes from the area anyway. I don't feel I need to go looking at stuff in the dark like past midnight and such. The thing that would make a magnifying glass with lights might be in a car driving at night, looking for things dropped on the ground like car keys or looking at a map when on a dark highway and pulled off the side of the road. In these cases one with a light would be a good thing.
