I just didn't want to be an adult today. After a nap and some prayerful meditation I feel a little better emotionally (if "better" is the word for it). I'm not even bothering with the "playoff" game tonight....mainly because it's the Y*nk**s. But I will give you another one of my favorite songs with "river" in the title. Here it is. #8: Ice on the River - Don Dixon Don Dixon's name was everywhere -- darn near -- in my record collection in the 80s. He produced albums by Chris Stamey of the dBs, the Smithereens, Marshall Crenshaw, Fetchin Bones, Richard Barone, Guadalcanal Diary, and oh, those guys from Athens whose guitarist once said their name could stand for "Rhinoceroses, Elephants, and Monkeys." In addition to all of that he found time to do his own music. His first album, which had one of those Joe Walsh-like album titles, featured his "biggest hit," "Praying Mantis." This great song, contrasting the difference in the "daytime job" and what people do at night ("every day she's a lady, she's wearing pearls and silken clothes, every night she's a hooker, push-up bra and fishnet hose"), is from that album. Don still performs with his wife, Marti Jones. They have a regular gig in Cleveland. I might have to get up there some time and see them. Ice on the River Written by Don Dixon Recorded by Don Dixon From Most of the Girls Like to Dance, But Only Some of the Boys Like To, 1985 Every night in the forest:

It's certainly one of my favorite album titles.
