Had you ever preferred a support character over the protagonist

Recently on some shows that I watch, I started hating the protagonist and liking a support character more. In the Anime Boruto, I cannot stand the main character Boruto because he is kind of a jerk to his dad. I kept watching this show because of the support character Sarada who is very likable. It is Ironic because I hate Sarada's parents but she is a very likable character. In my head canon she is the main character. In the Anime Dragonball Super, Son Goku recently became annoying. He had made lots of stupid decisions, he have a losing streak and he puts trillions of lives in danger. He use to be a likable Superhero, Now I see him as an awful dad and awful husband (Married 25 years, had 2 sons but never kissed his wife) to his family and a nuisance to his friends. Vegeta and The Android Twins, who are former villains turned Good became more likable than Goku. Heck Beerus God of Destruction is more likable than Goku. Dragonball Super is an awesome show but Goku is not my reason to watch it anymore. That show turned him into an irresponsible jerk. On Supergirl , she had became annoying lately, She is having too much issues with her lovelife. Her cousin Superman who is a support character on her show became more likable than her.... On the TV shows you watch, IS there a support character you like better than the main character of your favorite show? Which support character of a show you wish will have their own spin off.

He is such a jerk to his father. He grow up with a very comfortable life compared to him but he is so whiny.

@bela360 He is also the most popular kid in school. How can I relate with a character that spoiled.

NO Season 2 of SuperGirl on Netflix There's a saying that you live long enough you become a bad guy. I feel bad for those other universes to disappear.

On One Episode Gohan is so pissed with his dad because a father with a new born baby got deleted because of him but he have to do it because of the mess his dad made. Also Trunk's timeline got ruined by Goku's stupidity too. He is not a Superhero anymore, he is now an addict and his addiction is fighting. I am rooting for Jiren ,Ribrianne or Caulifla to eliminate him. I love Caulifla, such a caring character.

It happens. Recently I started watching the Jdrama Crisis since the lead actor played by none other than Oguri Shun, one of Japan's F4. But halfway into the first episode, I fell in love with his sidekick instead. Same things happen with anime Valvrave and Uraboku.

I really hate main characters who are bland, but sometimes I will watch a series with a bland lead character if the support characters are worth watching.

Nothing comes to my mind right now, but I am sure that many times I thought that the support character was better than the main actor.

Well, I like Flash the sloth in Zootopia more than the other characters. If you haven't watched it, I suggest you do. You'd fall in love with him too. Haha.

I know him, I love the scene where he makes Judy Hopps wait for eternity. I also love the Irony of his name, I watched the movie and I was shocked on who is the main villain.

There are many instances that I like the support character than the lead character especially when the sidekick can deliver a joke or happy to watch just like Benny when he was still in Ang Probinsyano, a tv series in the Philippines.

@ilocosboy Loud voice, have fatal stalker attraction to Cardo, made a lot of mess and trouble. I am so happy the kids that replaced him are less nuisance. He reminds me of Scrappydo.

Ages ago I enjoyed watching Cheers and I really like Frasier then I was so glad he got his own show. I've already gone through the episodes twice and will watch again.

I remember Frasier when I was little, it won a lot of Emmy's so it is originally a spin off? Wow I hope my favorite minor characters will someday have spin offs.

Oh yes there are many times I like the support character than the hero. On Boruto, I like his younger sister more. But I am not decided yet. Sarada is a favorite. Boruto treats his dad bad but I think that is more make believe. He secretly can't get enough of him. He'll grow it out.

The irony with Sarada is that her parents are like the most hated characters. Boruto have beloved parents and he is not well liked.
