By this time last year I was having a multitude of car troubles. I could not count on being able to make it to work. Then I found out, if I must, I can ride the school bus. That is my thankful thought for today, I can ride the bus if I need to. Today is a regularly scheduled bus day, though. Hubby had to scrape frost from his windshield. Where I parked the van it is not a problem. So that is my plan for today. I will ride the school bus, with the students.

It is helpful. I have been a driver. We have three kids that have it in their IEP that there is a rider.

Good that you have options. I hate car trouble.

@GardenGerty .....I'm glad I don't drive anymore. It is too stressful on many levels.

@celticeagle If I did not work, I would drive even less than now.

It can be fun. The really little kids love having a grownup around.

That's a great option you have! The kids must enjoy it, too.

I know the bus driver is relieved to have an extra adult on board, whether it is me or the other guy or even someone else.

That is really cool! That should be more of an option for people who work at schools, if it is really needed they should be able to ride. That is great you have that option!

This would not be possible where I lived before. The school board would have said I was receiving an "unfair" benefit over others who held the same job title.

@DesirousDreamer Yeah, don't get me started. At Headstart we received some fitness incentives, and was told that same thing. Unfair compensation.

@GardenGerty That is so lame! I think it should be an option because well..there is the environment and also do you want people to do their job? Obviously, so why not give the option when it is needed?

Have you asked the driver if there's a difference in the kids' behaviour on the days you ride?

No, because it is in the Individual Educational Program of three students to have a Para. Most days it is a person from our alternative school, except Wednesdays he has team meetings and they are required by law to have someone. I did short circuit a screaming meltdown of a student one day, though, and the driver was quick to thank me.

That is wonderful to know you can ride the school bus. Certainly gives you options when you need to get to work
