They Got Rich Because of the Dead People

What I am referring to, are owners of the funeral homes here in our province. They got rich with this kind of business. Here in the city, they not only embalm or cremate, but they also offer spaces complete with toilet and bath, pantry and a viewing room, for the vigil of the dead for a daily rate. Usually, the dead family member of a rich family will be there for at least 2 days. And they have several air conditioned individual vigil rooms You can also see how rich the dead person is, with the big and expensive wreaths that are already outside the viewing room because there are a lot already inside. In addition, you can also gauge the financial status of the family by the beautiful coffin of the dead. What about in your place, is there a funeral parlor too? I suppose the owner got rich from this business. In our hometown, there is no funeral parlor. The vigil of our dead is at home. But, the embalmer who does the embalming and supplies all the paraphernalia for the vigil and burial, is already rich and had branches in other towns. Note: picture is from google

That's one kind of business where you do not run out of clients similar to a junk shop.

@hereandthere with that people still have a choice, there are public cemeteries and cremation to just put ashes at home or scatter in the mountains.

Very true. And dying is one sure thing to happen to each and everyone.

Most of our towns have these if not a few. The small town I'm from has 2 one at each end of the town basically. It is too expensive and then the one my mom went to, the guy made her feel guilty like she wasn't showing she loved my dad by deciding to have him cremated instead of spending the big bucks, just what she did cost 7000.00 and that was without a urn. They do make the money and then try to play on the emotions of the hurt.

@andriaperry Wow! What a difference in price! My mom was taken back on how much it cost. The fact they don't even put you in a cheap urn for that price got me. Im gonna tell Rick figure a way to talk me to Alabama! lol

@Shavkat Sometimes, it's hard when there is a partnership. Good if both are hands-on, on the business so there will be transparency.

Its not about how wealthy you are here, its about how much insurance you pay for each month.

Yes, because the insurance pays according to what you have paid them too.

Some coffins are in the thousand dollars mark I think, of good wood and beautiful decoration. (Guess the departed would be pleased to be buried in such a one?)

The more rich people die, the more they get rich.

That is very true. Imagine, one day in an airconditioned memorial room costs 8,000 pesos or $160/day. The rich have their vigil for at least 5 days because some are waiting for their other family members from abroad.

People do that for themselves to show off. The deceased person doesn't care anymore.
