Into the top five I go with my list of favorite songs that have the word "wild" in the title. No surprises at all in the top five. As @JohnRoberts said the other day, I manipulate these countdowns just to use favorites. Case in point: today's song! #5: Wild Age - Warren Zevon Who? Maybe a prequel to "Lawyers, Guns, and Money," or maybe I say that because it was the last song on the follow-up to the album that had "Lawyers, Guns, and Money" on it (which was also the closing song). Maybe not. Definitely cut from the same cloth, however: you can't be a desperate man hiding in Honduras (did you notice how @dgobucks226 got on my good side with his last trivia list, including Zevon in it?? ) if you don't start young, "standing by the highway trying to hitch a ride." He hit the nail on the head in describing the rebellious people that James Dean only dreamed of portraying: "mostly when the reckless years end something's left to save, but some of them keep running 'til they run straight in their graves." Bad Luck Streak didn't get near the publicity that Excitable Boy did. Zevon went into rehab for his alcohol problems (he fell off the wagon a couple more times in his life, including -- to no one's real surprise -- over the Christmas holidays right after he was told he was dying of cancer) and saw his marriage fall apart, and during that time the music scene changed dramatically. So did radio, so there was little for Zevon to do except be a "cult figure" in music. And that he was: a cult figure who made some of the greatest music in rock and roll. And that includes this song. Wild Age Written by Warren Zevon Recorded by Warren Zevon From Bad Luck Streak In Dancing School, 1980 He's made up his mind:

Always enjoy his unique voice and lyrics. Nice backing vocals by his Eagle friends Henley and Frey. Kind of an Eagles feel to the song! Go Warren

The picture of Henley and Frey on the inner sleeve -- Henley running his fingers through his hair with this shocked expression on his face and Frey smirking -- is priceless. One of the best pictures of those two ever IMO.
