Wish He Hadn't Told Me That

I have posted before about my severe medication anxiety. Usually after starting a new medication, I am fine after the first two doses. But this current antibiotic I'm on has me panicking every time I take it. Why? Because the pharmacist told me sometimes people have delayed allergic reactions and will suddenly break out in a rash (or however their body responds) after like 4 days on it. I really wish he hadn't told me that. I have 9 more doses to get through, and it's not getting easier to make myself take it. I hate panicking every time I take something. At least I will be done with this med by the end of the week.

At least you were advised by the pharmacist about a possible adverse reaction to your meds. Better safe than sorry. Hopefully, you don't have any.

Do not panic and forget what he told you, they do this to protect themselves. If someone should have a problem they can say "I told them".

@Srbageldog In our days, no matter which label you read, there is a list of side effects that is long a mile.

You are probably right. I am trying to forget but my brain keeps dwelling on it.

@LadyDuck Sometimes the side effects seem worse than the issue they are treating!

It is better to know, so you can be prepared if it happened. They have to tell you. I wasn't told a certain medication would give me blood clots by my doctor, but the pharmacy told me and well it was good that I knew because I was able to get to the hospital before any more were created in my body, I already had them in my leg and lungs. It will be okay. You are prepared for anything to happen but hope it won't.

I'm so sorry that happened to you! That is so scary. I'm glad you were informed by the pharmacist. I am glad you are okay now and were able to get help in time. You are right, it's better to be prepared in case it happens, but it makes my anxiety go through the roof. I'd rather not take meds if I can, but in this case I have an infection and need to take the antibiotics.

@Srbageldog Thank you, it is worse it, I understand the anxiety, but medicine treats people in different ways. Hopefully nothing happens!

@Srbageldog Good! Self control and mind conditioning will help you a lot. All the best.

Thank you. I try to tell myself that if nothing happens in the first 15 minutes after taking it, then there is no need to panic.

Though it does not feel good,it really is better that you are aware of the possibility. Most probably nothing is going to happen anyway.

Thanks, me too. I wouldn't have even known I had a UTI if the doctor hadn't told me. I had no symptoms, which is odd.

It is better to be prepared, but most of the time, nothing happens.
