Poor old Max

Max gets groomed. I took this shot in April 2017.

Poor Max, he doesn't groom himself the way he should and now I can see why, he'd rather let Meetzee do it. Everytime I try to spend time with those two she decides she has to groom him. Is that weird? I've always had just one cat so having these two is different for me. Oh, some good news for me this morning, I caught Boobear sitting in front of the entryway of their room and she was actually having a conversation with Meetzee. That made my day. So, should I be hopeful that in another year they will get along?

They seem to be in a comfort zone type of routine. Friendship can't be forced...The cats know that very well. ..So taking their time to really get to know each other well.

The one grooming is Meetzee, she's the younger of the two and was raised with Max.

I agree. It's become funny though. She caught me when I caught her 'talking' to Meetzee and just like the clever girl she is she realized I wouldn't fall for her scaredy cat routine anymore .... now she runs like the devil past their door if she thinks I'm watching. It's going to be interesting.

Does Max also do something for Meetzee?

He is typical male, just sits back and allows Meetzee to groom him as if he is doing her a favor.

@rebelann You should train Meetzee to behave in a more emancipated way.

I do not believe that is possible @MALUSE she is about 13 or so years old and extremely self assured, she will bite or do anything else necessary if crossed, needless to say I do not cross her.

You would know, you have a lot of cats, right? Since mine are all indoor kitties and elderly should I expect them to like one another eventually?

@rebelann Yeah, got 13. In some cases it's called, "I will tolerate you, just don't bother me." I had to separate a momma one time because she wanted to beat up on her 4 children. And they were already 6 years old. Go figure that one.

Aw that is so cute. I think maybe you have a cat who thinks the other one is its child!

That could be. They were raised by my mom and I took them in last year in June so I don't really know a lot about them, Max is about 17 or so.

I've always had more than one cat and they all have their different personalities but Max letting Meetzee groom him just seems like he's found a better way than doing it himself

I think washing another cat is kind of a dominance thing. Handsome fur dudes.

Thanks. I wish I knew. Sometimes I think it's because of jealousy but I'm totally baffled. The one giving the bath is a female and for a while I just thought that's what female cats do. I only remember Prissy grooming Stanley but then she bore him along with 4 others so maybe that was a mother son thingy.
