Unplanned trip to JFK - a nightmare for me

My guy friend flew to Cairo (yes - I know - but he did anyway) and booked his tickets out of JFK which is almost 2 hours north of us. I told him long ago I would not drive to JFK ever again because the traffic is insane and the drivers very aggressive. It scares me. Additionally, the bridge tolls are equally insane and it is cheaper to find alternative transportation than it is to drive. He refused to believe me. He tricked me into going into NY onto Long Island. Two bridges - $33 tolls!!! Plus turnpike. Plus gas. I called him every name in the book at top volume. He originally said I was being selfish. By the time we got to the airport, he was apologizing. He'd better have a way home because I'm not going back.
On top of that, I got lost leaving the airport and almost ended up in Manhattan, the very LAST place I want to be driving in a car! Finally was able to pull off the highway and look at my GPS to find my way back to the Verazzano Narrows bridge to go home (That's the $18 bridge). By the time I got home, his flight had already taken off. I should have been home before then!!
Even writing about it, I can feel tightness in my chest over the anxiety I was having about ending up in Manhattan. My living nightmare behind the wheel!!

Taxis are far more expensive than driving, but there are other ways to get there that are cheaper, so he needs to do one of them. I've provided him with all the information, again, and he'll need to choose. He can even take a train from where they drop him off to our state capital which is about 40 minutes away, all for less money than the drive to get up there and far less stress on the person picking him up. Or he could take the Bolt Bus out of Manhattan right to the town 5 miles away from us. Best option of all of them. Knowing him, he'll choose the most illogical and expect everyone to jump through hoops for him.

Yes and no. You have to take trains to catch the direct train requiring you to ride into Manhattan, then transfer once and then again to the airport train. But, the cost of that is less than the two bridge fares combined. He'd better put 2&2 together when he comes home.
