Where could we have put that key?

We have a caravan which has been stored under a lean-to. It has a fancy gadget on the towbar which prevents anyone hitching on to the caravan and towing it away. Mind you, if they can remove it from its present position, I’d take my hat off to them. There is only about an inch clearance between the shed roof and the caravan roof. Any way we couldn’t find the key to the anti-theft device. It should have been on the key rack but wasn’t. We both looked. We looked everywhere we could think of. Then we started again and looked everywhere a second time. We started to think about cutting off the device but it is specially designed to resist bolt-cutters. We were stuck. Then I remembered St Anthony who is the patron saint of lost things. If you can’t find something, you can say a prayer to St Anthony and hopefully the lost item will soon turn up. I mentioned to Vince it was time we called in the heavies and I said a silent prayer. Vince went back to the key rack and there was the key complete with a name tag. I guessed we just missed it first time round but it seems very strange. And just in case I might need his help again one day, I said a silent thank you. I guess you think this is a load of rubbish?

So you also pray St Anthony when you cannot find things. Here is the Italian pray "Sant'Antonio dalla barba bianca fammi trovar quel che mi manca" (White beard St Anthony, make me find what I am missing). We also have the anti-theft device you mentioned. We use it when we go to Italy.

@JudyEv In Italy has always been the case with cars. They were able to steal our car that was inside our garage.

It's strange how often praying to St Anthony actually works! I'm always a bit astounded when it does. Regarding the anti-theft device, a niece and her boyfriend borrowed his father's camping trailer and had it stolen from outside a motel they stayed in. People are very brazen nowadays and will steal anything.

It'd incredible isn't it? I could have sworn we'd both looked in the place where it eventually turned up.

I did wonder if many would know of him at all. It seems I needn't have worried.

@JudyEv - I don't think it is rubbish at all. I have heard of other people having the same experience. I'm so glad you found the key!

@JudyEv - The interesting part is that you both looked at the place where you usually keep it and it wasn't there until you asked for help from St. Anthony. Amazing, isn't it?

We couldn't believe we couldn't find it as we're usually careful about such things.

@DeborahDiane So true. Vince often misses things and if he said it wasn't there maybe I didn't look carefully enough either. I've also found that I might expect something I'm looking for to be a certain shape or colour so I'll miss whatever it is because it's the 'wrong' shape or colour - if you know what I mean!

I dont think its rubbish. I do feel prayers can be answered. Otherwise why would anyone pray if we didn't think or feel some one special was listening.

That's true. Many of our friends pray to St Anthony when they need help finding things.

Whenever I misplaced anything around the home and could not retrieve, I would stop to pray and ask God to please help me find and He would always answer my prayer. I believe in the power of prayer.

It's amazing how often it works. I'm ashamed to say I don't have a lot of faith in it but it works time and time again.

I honestly don't think I've ever heard of this St. Anthony fellow. Glad you found your key. That thing sounds pretty heavy duty.

It is. We have a decent pair of bolt cutters but this thing is designed with them in mind I think. I'll add a photo. There is a U-shape which fits up into the ball and the bar above is padlocked in to stop the bit dropping out, And next time you lose something, give St Anthony a call. He doesn't seem particular about who he helps - and that isn't meant in an unkind way. If he helps me, he'll help most I should think.
