Inspired by a New Generation

Although it is very rare for me to post a photo of one of our family members, the photo above has been published in several Northern California newspapers, so I decided it would be OK for me to publish it here. It is a photo of my oldest granddaughter, Emily, who is now the Recreation Director for a small town in Northern California. When she received the promotion, the city published this photo of her in several of the local newspapers. Emily graduated from Loyola Marymount University in Los Angeles about 18 months ago. After that, she was hired full-time by the small town where she had worked as head lifeguard during her summer vacations during college. A few months ago, the city promoted her to Recreation Director and published her bio in the newspaper. She is considering going back to college to get her Master's Degree. Meanwhile, until she decides what to do, she loves her current position as a Recreation Director. She is creative, fun, sweet, hard-working and thoughtful. She is definitely an inspiring part of a new generation of our family! I love this photo of her with the Golden Gate Bridge in the background!

She is a beautiful girl and is what our future needs. Fabulous photo! We were on the other side of the bridge in the hills with our children during one of our vacations to San Fran while a reporter was there. We were on TV, and our younger son was interviewed and gave his thoughts about the beautiful weather we had. Lol!

@DianneN - That's great about your family being on TV! I'm glad the weather was beautiful while you were there. As you know, it can be quite chilly in San Francisco, even in the summer! We're very proud of our granddaughter and feel she has a bright future ahead!

@DianneN - Ha ha! So you are the cause of climate change! LOL Next time you are going to San Francisco, let us know. We'll head up to the Napa Valley to visit our daughter, secure in the knowledge that the weather will be great!

@DeborahDiane You have every right to be proud of your granddaughter. She seems to have a good head on her shoulders. For the record, every time I have been to San Francisco, the weather was warm and sunny for the entire week. It was hot enough to swim in the rooftop pools. Perhaps I should go more often.

@Hannihar - She took this job after she graduated from college. She has thought about going back to school for her Master's Degree, but she doesn't want to take on any more student loan debt at this time. Maybe someday.

@JudyEv - She is a very happy young woman. We loved it when she was going to college near us. She would call me sometimes on Friday afternoons and say, "Hi, Grandma! Can I come down and spend the weekend with you and Grandpa?" I was always so flattered that a pretty college girl would want to spend the weekend with her grandparents! LOL

@JudyEv - It is a great feeling when the younger generation likes to hang out with us, isn't it? I'm glad your god daughter enjoys spending time with you and Vince, too!

It is a beautiful shot and she is lovely. Yes what a great juxtaposition of that famous bridge in the background, her in the swing so carefree and the ocean!

@Happy2BeMe - Yes, she is enjoying her new job. She hasn't decided whether she wants to continue with City Administration or go into School Psychology. She's going to work where she is for another year or two before she makes a final decision on graduate school. I think she is smart to take a break!

@DeborahDiane I think so too. It will give her time to know which direction she wants to go.

That is awesome how it should be in a land that forgot to elect leaders to support that young lady. Makes me sad but photo makes me happy because if that does not get them on the right track, nothing will. b
