I don't know how he does it!

It's bonfire night, so all I can hear is fireworks going off all around my house both near and far. I find it really irritating - not to mention how dangerous they are, I think fireworks should be illegal except for organised public displays, but that's besides the point... The noise is unbelievable, yet Leonard went to bed at seven o'clock as usual, sent himself off to sleep in less than five minutes as usual, and he's still asleep now while the deafening bangs go off at a ridiculous rate! Over the last couple of months there has been one firework let off around once every two or three nights (I assume people were testing their purchases prior to this weekend) and even that has been able to ruin my sleep, so I really hope I can sleep tonight!

Sounds like how it is here on the Fourth of July. I agree, I think fireworks (at least the large ones you shoot up in the air) should be illegal except for organized public displays. This last 4th of July, my idiot neighbors were shooting them off in the parking lot below my living room window, even though there are a ton of trees and the buildings are all close together. They have no way to control where they come down, so could easily set something on fire.

How stupid And it's not only that, but also fireworks can go wrong before they even get up in the air, hey can fail to leave the ground and then explode right where they are, or they can slip and shoot off to the side instead of going up They scare me, I love watching them but I'm scared to go outside when my neighbours are using them!

@LilyBeBack Our city can no longer have fireworks displays on the Fourth of July because about 15 years ago, the volunteer firefighters who were setting them off shot mortars out into the crowd and blew the leg off a teenage girl. They lost their license to host fireworks displays after that. My boyfriend also worked with someone whose husband blew half his hand off while lighting a firework. There is so much that can go wrong with them. I won't ever set them off myself. I also enjoy watching them -- from a distance! -- but I hate being around anyone who is lighting them. My parents have had them come down in their yard when their neighbors set them off. It's scary when those are going off right over your house!

I am not a fan of fireworks, not for the fact they are dangerous, just the fact that they hurt animal's ears and they can't do anything about it. People are shooting fireworks all the time over here even when it is not even close to any holidays that uses fireworks. Hopefully you can sleep!

Yeah it's not fair on animals, or on people who are scared of them, or even just people who need to sleep because it's night time... Apparently it can be helpful to pets if you have music playing like dance music that goes bang bang bang repetitively, because then the bangs from outside don't affect them as much, but obviously if people are letting fireworks off all the time then that's not practical for you

@LilyBeBack Yep yep, I tell everyone to play music, I get mad if my dad doesn't do it at his parties since he has like 7 dogs.

I used to love it and I'm sure I will do again next year when he can stay up a little bit later to watch the fireworks, but for now it's just noise
