It's 42 F Outside: Brrrrrrr: And Raining

United States
November 8, 2017 9:16am CST
I just checked the weather. No wonder the house is so cold. 42 F degrees outside and raining. My pellet stove is on and it will warm up the house right away. I don’t know what my son has the thermostat set on, but it’s too cool for me. For those who don’t know. I live in a house that is connected to my son’s house and the heat and air for both dwellings is controlled by HIS thermostat. It’s always colder on my side, so he installed this pellet stove for me. I love it. I need a cup of coffee and I will be back later when I warm up. Right now this room is too cool for me.

42 F! That is very cold. Here it is only 25C(77 F) and it is raining.May be because I am recovering from the fever last week,I feel like it is very cold. Hope the pellet stove and the hot coffee have warmed you.

I hope you are feeling better. Yes, my pellet stove warms up my house right away. I love the simplicity of it. Just push the button, once the hopper is full of pellets.

It's supposed to get a little warmer (62) by Thursday. I'm planning to stay home when its cold, but I have a meeting today at 4PM. And another meeting Tuesday evening. I will definitely have to bundle up and warm up the car. I will plan to run my errands on the warmest day.

I heard that it was going to be a winter blast in the Northeast. Hope it warms up soon. I know you will be happy to go to Florida for the winter.

@DianneN Yes, Yay!! is right. Enjoy! I assume that you have someone to check on your house when you are gone, just in case of a power outage or some other situation??? I think you told me once that you did.

@IreneVincent I feel bad for my family and friends when it's cold and awful. I heard that Florida will have another beautiful winter like last year. Yay!!!!

We've had temperatures in the low 30s the last two days but that's Centigrade so we're really getting into summer now.

I can never get the Centigrade temperatures straight in my mind. I have a chart though.

@IreneVincent I know vaguely the comparisons but I always feel I should put an exact translation on here and that puts me off. I'm basically a lazy person.

Its 47 here.. no idea if its raining again or not but was during the night. We are connected to 11 apartments (side by side) and although we have our own thermometer- our heat is still depending on our neighbors, because we're an end apartment so if our neighbor and their other neighbor has there heats blasting, our house wont be that warm / hot.

Yikes. That's sort of like me. I live in a house that is connected to my son's house, but the thermostat is in his house for both houses and sometimes my houses gets cold, depending on what he has the thermostat on. However, I do have a pellet stove and it's on right now. So, my house is warm. I have to go out for a meeting at 4pm though, so I'm not looking forward to getting in my cold car. Thank goodness it warms up quickly.

@Courtlynn Running errands is not fun in the cold weather either. I just may get my daughter to do some of that for me this winter, although she doesn't like the cold weather either. Maybe I can have her pick me up. Her car will already be warm.

@IreneVincent Yeah, I don't mind going out in the cold to go shopping or anything because stores and such are normally warm' its the cold car when you first get in that I don't like. lol

I would love to have a pellet stove or a fireplace. I can't wait til our temps are back down in the 40's. That is one of the things I miss most about New York, the cold weather.

@gnatsmom Alabama! Yes, I think it would be too WARM for me there in the summer months. I've only been to Alabama once.

It is about that temperature here as well. I haven't turned my heat on so I'm really cold.

For us here in Latvia the weather during the day remains in the forties and drops a bit in the evenings but for us this is a treat because usually the weather gets much colder. I would be happy if it stayed this way through December with no snow.

Yes, I don't like the snow either. Cold weather I can deal with most of the time. It really doesn't usually get that extreme here in Virginia, but it can get down below zero F sometimes in the winter. I just have to stay home when it gets that cold outside. I'm going to get some canned soup to have on hand for the winter months, just in case we get snowed in and I can't get to the grocery store. I'll get some other things too, that don't need to be cooked, in case we lose power. We had a mild winter last year, but who knows what this winter will bring.

I guess Northern, CA is a bit cooler in the winter than Southern CA. My cousin used to live near Sacramento. I visited her there a couple times.
