Have you heard of the Dollar Eleven Cents Miracle?

Story has it that there was an eight year old girl Tess. She overheard her parents discuss their impending move to a tenement apartment because they couldn't foot the medical bills of her little brother Andrew. Now, her brother needs an operation and only a miracle can save her brother, Tess rushed to her room and took her coin saver, She put all her savings on the floor and counted three times. She has a dollar and eleven cents. Quietly, she went the back door and walked to the pharmacy. At the pharmacy, she waited patiently as the pharmacist talked lengthily with a well dressed man from Chicago. After some scuffles for attention and no apparent response, she tapped a quarter on the glass counter. The pharmacist asked, "What do you want? Don't you see that I am talking to my brother here from Chicago? I have not seen him for ages." Tess answered as boldly, "Well, I am here for my brother, too. I want to buy a miracle for him." That got the attention of the well dressed man from Chicago. He asked Tess how much she has got and Tess said a dollar and eleven cents. The well dressed man said that that is exactly the price of a miracle. He took the dollar and eleven cents with one hand and with the other, Tess's tiny hand and said, "Take me to your little brother and i want to speak with your parents. I might have the miracle your brother needs" The well dressed man was Dr, Carlton Armstrong, a neurosurgeon. It wasn't long when the surgery was completed and little brother Andrew was home and doing well. Tess"s parents wondered how much the miracle operation could have cost. Tess knew how much it was. A dollar and eleven cents.

I was touched the moment I heard of the story. Faith is in the beholder, ain't it. The age does not even count. Tess was just eight but she believed her brother could have that miracle. He did.

Now that is one beautiful story about the trust of a little child. A miracle that it happened and it was really lovely to read thank you. Love stories that end like this.

I love children very much. Long ago, there was a song entitled 'Bless the Beasts and the Children' and young as I was, I knew the song was a prayer. "Keep them shelter from the storm. Keep them safe. Keep them warm" I knew then that beasts and children must be cared for, because they couldn't take care of themselves yet. So, subliminally, growing up, I look out for children. Children's stories, as in Tom Sawyer, Huck Finn, Annie, David Copperfield, Penny, Oliver, and many more, they make up my heart, I think.

@eileenleyva I love many stories for children. My favourites are of Dickens, Charlotte BronteĀ“s "Jane Eyre" because it was the way and style of life that we had to live and ti was not so long back either. Its a very nice story though and it can come true also. Trust of a child is the key to many things in life.

@lovinangelsinstead21 I did not get to read Jane Eyre but I had the chance of viewing the movie many years back, If I recall right, it was the story that shows the mettle of a young orphan called Jane. The subsequent event in her life was unfortunate but that built the character all the more. If your story is similar to the Jane Eyre plot, then that means your character has been tested with fire and branded with burning iron. Such life God has given us on earth. Glory be back to him. As St. Francis and St. Anthony insisted, we have to endure the trials and sacrifice, all for the greater glory of God. I truly admire thee.

I was deeply moved. And humbled. The faith of a child. Her innocence. Her magnificent resolve that buying the miracle from her savings would be the very solution for her brother's illness and her parent's predicament, that is faith. And God granted it. My faith, considered strong and formidable, lacks that innocence. I tend to rely on my self and capabilities. As the parents did. If only I can remain with the innocence of a child forever.

Oh my Eileen, I was so moved by the story, and I think my eyes get watery. Everyday, we have miracles, it really can move mountains, as long as we don't lost hope.

I admire your faith, too. Everyday we have miracles, you say, WOW. God has blessed you a super vision to see those miracles, and acknowledge them as miracles. Yes, life itself is our most outstanding miracle. I am most overwhelmed by my being alive and being a part of this vast universe. Breathing and the thug thug beat of the heart make me humble. My life is a miracle.

@ilocosboy WOW. I suppose they saw your gesture of appreciation. In their hearts, they love it. Children with special needs have a special place in my heart. It is a family advocacy to care for someone if our services are needed. Our eldest cousin who migrated to Canada, spend his Thursdays keeping watch people who couldn't be left alone, because of their special condition.

Only few times that my eyes teary and the last time was this morning again. I should have made a discussion about this but maybe its just right moment to write it for you. This morning while attending the children's celebration my attention was caught by these differently abled children who did the invocation. The kids interpreted the song May Bukas Pa through sign language. After their number I clapped my hands though I was not supposed to. I then learned they are students of SPED.

We do meet angels when we least expect it, or even know it. Miracles happen and we don't even realize it. The characters in our lives are actually given miracles of our lives. They are our blessings. I count them. My blessings are super

Yes. Great stories emerge from the seemingly ordinary and little lives people of no consequence live. Tess was simply an eight year old. From pure resolve to make her brother well, she made it plausible for him to live. Only a child could think of buying a miracle. Only a child could count a dollar and eleven cents from a coin saver and deem it good for a miracle. Only a child.

I suppose it is from the biography of a certain Dr. Carlton Armstrong, neurosurgeon. Miracle stories come to us, and like a certain church I know, investigation is necessary before affirming the validity of the story. In my book, whenever I hear a miraculous story, it is as if I heard a story directly from our Creator. It is the Voice of God narrating to me a warming tale. Somehow, it is our God's way of telling me that He is right at me, giving me His love, through a miracle story.
