@m_audrey6788 I could almost write a book about it, maybe I should. Seriously, it can be very challenging but yes I liked it. You are required to have soft skills and also some knowledge on the product.

Some chat services are good and some are a real pain, it all depends on the guy who is providing help. Host Gator was great in the past, no more now.

@m_audrey6788 There are humans running the chat service. In the past the tech guys were great, now they seem to know nothing.

Actually, what I encountered are those who promote their products via chat, the moment you ask how much is their product on their facebook account. And they are so persistent.

I actually was employed on help desk "live support" and used live voice as a medium mostly. Did do some email as well. Live texting would be different and only really did live texting in a non-professional way.

I've used a chat service with a service provider that we have and they always seem to answer my concerns quickly and to the point. I worked in a contact centre that took inbound calls and also did live chats and had an email department. I was approached to join the ranks of the chat department, but I turned it down because you have to be very quick with your responses, and since my spelling isn't the greatest I turned it down.

@Juliaacv Oh me too, I have problem with customer service with voice but I think in chat I can as I only need to have trainings and standard outline to follow or answers to possible inquiries

@m_audrey6788 I'm very particular about providing customer service. I strive for perfect quality reports, which I wouldn't be able to get with my poor spelling habits. The questions posed and issues brought forth in chat inquiries are very unique and how I answer isn't just about the words used, but also the tone of my voice. I didn't feel that I could do it well. As a consumer I prefer that then a live conversation because you can request the transcripts from a chat session, if you ever need it to prove a point or a price quoted.

I've used chats for questions and was always satisfied only after asking for the supervisor! Most workers had little knowledge or authority.

I would think you would have to work for and know company policies and product line since it is a customer service position. I've used them to ask questions ordering parts online. Very helpful and if assembly is required, they sometimes have help videos.

I would like a job like this as well. I do have an advise listing under presto experts. They use liveperson for chat. However, I haven't got a lot of traffic. I would love to find a site like this in which I could do academic tutoring. Most of the jobs I have seen, for online chatting, involve technical support for computers and programs and technology. That is not my area of expertise.
