Have you ever been creative to save money?

I had to change the stairs railing in my house because it was too low and the banisters were too wide. As my little daughter is starting to walk, it was about the time to put a safer railing. So I have been contacting several woodworkers in my area and they all gave me very high prices that range between 700-1000. So I went to the shop to check out the price of the raw material only to find it a little over 100€. Then I asked my father in law (who knows a lot about construction) to cut them and put them on. It took him a while to figure it out but he did it like a pro. One more row is left and then painting. This saved me a lot of money. Have you ever used creative ways to save money?

@infatuatedbby he has been helping a lot with the house renovation. Without him it would’ve been so difficult. Me and my wife are planning to buy him something in return.

Yes, I do my DiY. I made the chicken pen and rabbit hatch and I did with just me. I just buy few woods, nails and paints.

That’s brilliant. It must be really hard to do all that alone. How long did it take you?

I'm doing it every Sunday because I have my work from Monday to Saturday. And yeah, I finished them.

You are lucky to have your father in law to do the labor.

It's good that you know how to build stuff. This also requires some experience. I'm only starting to learn.

That is awesome! There are always cheaper ways to do things and sometimes they stay together better than that professional stuff. We do it a lot around here haha

A professional may just want the job done as quickly as possible. Whereas we try to perfect every detail no matter how long it takes.

In Belgium construction services are extremely expensive. If one doesn’t try to do the work himself or with some help, it would cost him a fortune.

With regards to buying ingredients for my food, yes. But as for construction of any kind, it's always expensive.

Do you try to do the small constructions yourself?

Always. It is how I became rich. Well, depending on one's definition. But I do pretty well financially.
