Broke on pay day

Like tons of other Americans, my household lives paycheck to paycheck. Yesterday was my pay day and I'm already broke. I paid my rent and water bill. I paid partial towards my cell phone bill. I paid the minimum payment towards my credit bill and I paid the $5 towards my cheap internet. I still have to finish paying my cell phone bill. In past due bills I owe about $900. But my kids are home. There's food on the table for all 3 meals and we definitely have a home to live in since my rent is paid. Eventually I will be able to catch up on those past due bills, but man, does this suck. The cycle of being broke. I work so hard and barely have anything to show for it other than a body that hurts. I know many of you know the feeling of being broke on pay day.

I got paid last night and while the only thing that had come out of my check so far is my phone bill, I know the feeling. Which is why I try on days off and time off to earn extra online.

Yeah. I'm going to see if I do some surveys today on swagbucks.

@acrogodess I should start paying more attention to Swagbucks. But I just don't have the patience most days.

@acrogodess You better feel like a super mom. It is very hard to live with no help or support. Your kids maybe need to do homework assignments, play with friends, and maybe they got some spare time. I know education is the key to success, try to teach them to help you with the chores, maybe they can help with making dinner, wash the dishes or start to dust the floor. Maybe they will do it with joy and happiness. Maybe you can tell them where the money goes and what you need to pay for, they will find ways to make things easier for you because they love you. Helping you means that they help themselves since you take care of them. My nephew is 3 years old, his mom teaches him to help her with making salad, he choose vegetables, he put plates on the table, forks, spoons...He will grow up responsibility, he will help his parents as they help him. Win win for everyone.

Aw thanks for the compliment. Sometimes I feel like a failure, I get so stressed out, but all I can do is my best right?

I know exactly how you feel. It's not easy. We pretty much live paycheck to paycheck. It's not pleasant. My husband and I are tired of it, but we're definitely trying to get out of it. Hopefully, we'll see the end of it.

@acrogodess It really is. It'd be nice to have leftover for ourselves, or for an emergency, or something.

It is definitely annoying working so hard and not having anything leftover for yourself.

Sorry to read about your financial situation, I know it could be worse. Do you have a neighbor with WiFi connection ? maybe you can ask for the password, and maybe the neighbor can share the internet with you... I would share my WiFi if I could. Do you talk a lot with the mobile ? Maybe you can stop paying regularly and use a prepaid card and talk only when you really need...? I hope you will be able to earn enugh money here in mylot, to cover the internet bill or shrink it a lot. Hey, maybe your kids can mylot with your account ? You will gain more activity, your kids will discuss in mylot for you, they will get information, you will earn for the activity... :-)

I won't downgrade my phone plan. The plan I'm grandfathered into is better than any of the newer plans currently available. Things will get better, it's just an adjustment since I'm now in a single part single income household. I have unlimited text, data, and talk and I have 14 gb of high speed hotspot to connect my laptop or tablet to. I'm just venting. My son will start working part time soon so he can get himself video games, but he is a generous and loving and responsible young man so he said he will help with one of the smaller household bills which includes his cell phone. We don't have a home phone so he and his sister share a cell phone for both entertainment purposes and so that their father and I can keep in contact with them and so that they can call for help in an emergency.

I have been living that way all of my life. It is very stressful. Just can't seem to ever get ahead. It is frustrating working so hard and never having anything to show for it.

I agree and I bought into the BS of how a degree would get me out of this cycle and all I have is a bachelors in psychology and a $25k debt in student loans ugh and I'm still living paycheck to paycheck

Good lord I'd have a heart attack at that price for a phone! I think I'd sooner go look for a pay phone and I know there are none of those left (or are there?). I'd much rather buy yarn to enjoy than pay that much to talk to people! lol am I anti-social put it that way?

The past due and current cell phone bill combined are $625. I used to have a family plan with 5 lines. I cut my mother's line since she barely used it. My brother in law has a line as well but has been unemployed for a few months so he fell behind on his portion. Very stressful.
