Please don't fail me, Firefox!

This happened at least once before already: - my ping on the cmd screen shows that I have internet connection, - the icon on the taskbar shows that I'm supposedly connected, - yet I cannot reach any site on Google Chrome. If I remember correctly, the problem before was resolved by either switching the router off and back on, or restarting Windows. This time around, though, doing so does nothing. But Firefox works! So, no, the problem definitely is not with the internet connection. Using Firefox, I searched the net for anything that can explain what is happening. Apparently, other people have experienced something similar before. I saw it on some Google Help Forum, or something. Those other people experienced it in 2014, 2016, 2017... which means this is not something new. Some of them were so dismayed, they expressed that Google should fix their browser or they will go look for another browser. So I looked around for other browsers. Yes, I am currently using Firefox. But I've been using two browsers together for sometime so if I can't use Chrome, I wanted another second browser to use with Firefox. Before downloading anything new, I tried Microsoft Edge which comes with this Windows. I quickly ran into the same problem. Oh noes! So this problem is not exclusive to Chrome? I downloaded Opera. They say it's a good browser. Maybe I should go try it. So last night, when I tried it for the first time, it seemed ok. I copied the bookmarks from Chrome there and went about my business as usual. But this morning... I can't connect again! Why, oh why??? So the last browser standing is Firefox again. Please don't fail me. Please. Has anyone been having problems like this recently or ever? What did you do? What browser do you use? And while I'm at it, what do you know about proxy servers? Because that seems to be the error that comes up. I should go read up on it, but if you guys can give me some input on it, that would be great. Thanks in advance.

Resetting what? Do you mean something other than switching my router off and on, or restarting Windows? Because as I've mentioned in the post, I've done those and they did nothing.

@Dyvette16 I tried. Those on the help forum suggested some things but the ones with the complaints still say they didn't help. I haven't tried myself. I think I will read up more on it. In the meantime though, while Firefox is the only one working, I hope it will keep on working! Hang in there, Firefox!

When that happens I turn everything off and unplug everything and start all over. Sometimes it works.

I did that though - I mean, restarted everything. It didn't help then. But just an update: sometime after I posted the above... I leave the computer every now and then because I get called to the store. When I came back one time, the screen was grayed out a bit and switching between windows was a bit laggy. So I just hit the reset button. (I get impatient sometimes. ) When the system rebooted, Chrome was working again. So I don't know what's going on. I suppose it's good that it seems only intermittent, though it would be nice if the problem didn't occur at all. Am also trying to scan things to make sure there's no problem there.
