A mixed day today

It’s been a mixed day for us in Donnybrook, Western Australia. We travelled about twenty minutes to Kirup Tavern and enjoyed a lunch with a group that Vince plays golf with on Thursday mornings. After their golf game they go to a local café, have coffee and beer-battered chips and set the world to rights. He meal wasn’t really anything special but it was nice to spend time with friends.
However from there we went a few miles to an old country hall which mostly stands isolated and unused. This was a very different occasion to where we’d come from as it was a memorial service for a much-loved and well-respected lady from the district. She had passed away at the age of 59 from multiple myeloma, the same disease my sister-in-law has although luckily she is responding very well to treatment.
There were some lovely testimonials to our friend who was feisty and mischievous with a great knack for telling stories and endearing all who met her. So don’t forget to tell your loved ones how much they mean to you and in the words of the Irish blessing which was read at the service, may the road rise up to meet you and may the wind be always at your back.
The photo is typical of scenery in the area.

Bland food tastes great when in good company.

That Irish blessing is one of my favorites, makes me remember how Irish I am. Sorry about your friend, it sounds like she is a real loss to everyone.

Lovely scenery. Glad you are having a good day. Yes it is important to tell friend you care all the time. Just found out that my godfather who is in the states has been hospitalized. He is 96 and has been partially paralyzed and bedridden for a long time now. So prayers are in order for him today. With everything bad goind on in my world I just cannot take anymore bad news.

And the world keeps on revolving doesn't it, whether people are enjoying a companionable lunch or farewelling a friend.

That is very hard to go from joy to sadness. We have the opposite here. We have a Rembrance Day for our fallen soldiers and for terror victims and then at night it turns to our Independence Day celebrations. It is hard to go from one to the other but the Independence gives us joy and pride to know that we are here.

The picture is very lovely. I agree we should tell everyone dear to us how we feel, because we never know the future and if we will see them again. It's wonderful your sister-in-law is doing well.
