I'm waiting for daylight

Again my Siamese woke me way too early. Its crazy warm outside for Thanksgiving.
I am grateful. Its expected that on this day of all days I should be thankful and I am. I also am a tad blue. Its my Mom's 96th birthday. Just wow. I talked with her for a moment yesterday. Her voice! She said she knew who I was and yet, yes yet, there was very little give and take. She did respond when I joked and called her a Spring Chicken- she said there were a whole lot of Spring Chickens so that was good. I told her I hope to see her next summer.
I wanted to say Hey, Remember when we hiked up that mountain together with Susie dog but I kept my mouth shut. The remember whens? are gone for her. Remember when you baked a Cornish hen for our Thanksgiving, way back in St. Paul and I was a mixed up kid at the end of high school?
Sometimes it just has to be enough to hear a voice. Enough.
I will put a decent tablecloth on the table today. I will bother to take out the plates that daughter packed home to me years ago. And tea in the teapot that Mom gave to me- Hall china tea pot, green with gold stars. Mint from the garden cause it is so warm that the mint has not died back. Cornbread made from home ground flours baked in a store bought squash. Hubby my constant; my shoulder to lean on.
I hope your Thanksgiving day is sweet. May there be gravy on your shirt and pie crumbs in your hair! For those not in the USA, blessings and enjoy these foolish American posts please.

@celticeagle Really? I make a tasty gravy, well I call it gravy, with almond milk, olive oil, garlic and a little broth for salt. Love that garlic powder. I thicken the gravy stuff with flour.

@celticagle No gravy today. I'll have to put it on this coming week's menu. Thanks for the kick to my brain cells.
