Do you prefer cooking with coconut oil

Hello friends.. I heard about some health benefits of coconut oil. But really don't know about the facts. I personally don't like dishes cooked using coconut oil (no offense meant.. everyone has their taste) . I use vegetable oil for cooking and sometimes rice bran oil to. What do you think? Which oil is healthy to use?

I try to avoid cooking with oil, but when I do I prefer coconut oil. Extra virgin olive oil is healthy but I'd rather not cook with it.

Oils lose some of their health benefits when heated and some may form harmful compounds but that is not to say I do not like or eat fried foods. That's the reason virgin oil like olive or coconut is pressed not heat treated so they are healthier.

@prashu228 that's the reason why fried foods are considered bad most of the time.

I see. So oils should not be heated. But that's not possible with fried foods.

For salads walnut and hazelnut oils are tasty. They cannot be used to cook.

I have tried many oils but never coconut oil. I cook mainly with olive oil. For things like French fries needing to be fried I use sunflower or corn oil. For salads my preferred is hazelnut oil.

Is it true that it is best not to use live oil for heavy frying? I read that somewhere - after I fried dumplings with it and I became nauseous.

We use either palm oil, canola oil or olive oil for cooking. I once tried using virgin coconut oil as a skin moisturizer though.

Here we don't have the coconut oil. The common oils for cooking are peanut oil, corn oil, sunflower seeds oil, tea seeds oil, olive oil and so on. At my home, we usually use peanut oil. I use the olive oil when I make a pizza.

I would use this oil on my skin but not in my cooking unless a recipe called for it. We use either olive oil or corn oil.

Coconut oil is healthy for cooking, but I only use it while making fish curry, fish fry, and to saute some vegetables like lady's finger, potatoes, brinjals etc. I don't use it to make all vegetables. For the rest ,I use sunflower oil.
