Do you donate blood? Are you registered as a bone marrow donor?

I wonder why so few people would do that. I prefer to assume that's rather laziness than indifference to the good they can do. Some might have a health issue that might block them for donating either. But what good reasons are there for not helping others in their most pressing issue (keeping alive)?

I have donated blood before and will continue to help others
I was a bone marrow donor and had a chance to help a 10 year old boy who needed the bone marrow but after all the tests I was not able to , very sad
