It's about time

I always knew that this day will come. I just didn't know it will be that soon. My Windows PC is finished. The inner fan is not cooling down the hardware so it gets very slow. I bought this PH pc for a good 700€ about 4 years ago. But that's the life expectancy of an average Windows pc. Now I switched to my wife's Mac (which I think will never have such problems) to edit my website. I had to download and install all the software again and it took me until midnight to figure out how to use the magic mouse and some of the Mac features. How long did your last computer last?

I think it might have been 3 or 4 years. Will you be buying yourself another one?

No I’m done with windows PC. It’s a waste of money. My wife never uses her Mac (she has everything on her iPhone) so I will be using it for now.

I built my desktop computer, it is 10 years old, I installed a new Windows system, but the computer is always the same. I changed the internal cooling fan, I added more memories and changed the CPU, but my computer is always the same.

I guess maintaining it regularly like that would cost less than buying a new one every few years.

@LadyDuck where do you buy those parts from? I've never seen computer parts being sold separately before

@Madshadi When I am happy with a computer, I do not like to change. As we assemble our own computers, we try to choose the best components, so that they last long time.

My last computer was a MacBook Pro and I used it for 5 years till I decided to get a new one recently. I just replaced it even if it was still working good. My son is using it now.

Did you replace it in the Apple store? I heard they don’t pay back much for it

The hardware is just too fragile compared to Mac.

My last computer, which the original price was 700 dollars, but I paid a sale price, lasted close to five years. I didn't have much money at the time for a really good new one, so this one probably won't last more than a few years.

Paying that amount for few years only sounds ridiculous. It’s like renting a PC and not buying one.
