Should I get this bass?

I'm the best bass player in Contra Costa County who doesn't own a bass. Not the best player in Contra Costa County. Just the best who doen't own a bass.
In Debbie's swing band I play Michael's upright. In Scott's rock band, I play the lead guitarist's daughter's bass.
How do I get away with it? Well, it turns out that the bottom (musically speaking) four strings an a guitar are the same as the notes of a 4-string bass, just an octave higher. For the record, they're E, A, D, G (Eat a dog, good!).
So I practice bass runs on my guitar and then use those runs at practice and during gigs.
But I really should own my own bass. A couple of times, I've had to lug Michael's big ol' upright around for days when he couldn't make a gig.
How's this one look? It's an Ibanez, plays well, and costs only $200. Think I should go for it? It comes in red, black, and the walnut shown. As an acoustic kind of guy (and a walnut speaker refinishing guy), I'm drawn toward the walnut. What do you think?

Sure, why not. I don't think you can find anything of quality any cheaper. I don't know about their basses, but I know Steve Miller used to play Ibanez guitars (I used to have a promotional poster from them/him). (Don't know if that's an endorsement or a turn-off, either. )

That sounds like a great deal. I would get it if I knew how to play one.

I believe you are a big boy and if that bass interests you, I say go for it, pony.
So you might have a new "lady" falling asleep in your bed now, huh?
