So, today, I am hoping to catch up on some of these Daily Posts and even add a couple more. As winter sets in, I will have even MORE time to post things on mylot, because I will be staying home on the wintry days. My son signed me up to Ancestry.com, so I’m also spending some time there. I want to proceed with my research on my family history. I basically have EIGHT paths to follow, starting with my FOUR grandparents. But, my son wants me to also follow my husband’s FOUR grandparents. So, this should be very interesting AND time-consuming. I already have quite a lot of information, but there is a lot more that I don’t have. My son has already traced my father’s line back to the 1700s in France. And he has also traced my husband’s father’s line back to the 1600s in Scotland. I have a cousin who has already done a lot of research on my mother’s line, so she has given me quite a lot of information and lots of photos. One thing that I’m hoping to find out is where the white streak in my hair, that I was born with, came from? It runs in my family on my father’s side. I will post a couple photos, so you can see what I’m talking about. Look at my profile photo. I’m going to set aside some time each day for my Daily Posts on mylot and an equal amount of time on Ancestry.com. I’m going to try to catch up today on the Countries in alphabetical order. I will only have time to write a very short post for each country but I do hope to learn more about several countries in the process. I will be reading ALL the information, but only posting a few sentences about each country. Tomorrow, I will try to catch up with “What happened on this date.” I’m going to add: U.S. states information, in alphabetical order and then a “Who in the World” category. That will bring me up to SEVEN Daily Posts. I’m hoping to do TEN Daily Posts, but that just may not be possible. I’m challenging myself. And this is NOT just for mylot. I’m printing out my posts to create a keepsake for my grandchildren. When I write about certain countries and states that I have personally visited, I will be adding personal information about my visits to those areas. I hope you will enjoy some of these posts.

It's going REALLY well. I have actually gotten in touch with a relative that I didn't know existed. We are emailing right now and trying to figure out our connection. It's very exciting.

Another cousin with the white streak in her hair.
@JudyEv Well, I found out that my relative and I have the same great grand parents on my father's side. His grandfather and my grandmother were brother and sister. What we don't know at this point is what relation that makes us. Probably some weird term like third cousin, twice removed. I've heard all those weird terms, but I don't know which one applies to us. It's just exciting to know that I found him and may have relatives that I didn't know about, right here in the same county I live in now. AND he also is familiar with the birth mark that runs in our family. The white streak in our hair, that we KNOW has been passed down for at least 8 generations. We know that it came from our great grandmothers side of the family. Whether we will find out where it originated, it's hard to tell, but I'm going to continue my search.

I like Genealogy too. I have traced more on my Mom's side than my Dad's, but that is my next interest.

I spent about two hours today on researching my paternal grandmothers line I found out a few things and printed out about ten pages. They sure had a lot of kids back then. My father was the youngest of ten children.

@IreneVincent One thing I do know about my Dad's father is that he was 1 of 13 kids. They really did have a lot of kids back then.

@LeaPea2417 I did more research this evening and actually got an email from a long lost relative. I'm not even sure exactly how we are related except that we definitely know already that we have the same great grand parents. It's my great grandparents on my Dad's side through his mother, but I'm not sure how it runs on this man's family line. It may be through his Mother's side. We're trying to figure it out. He emailed me earlier today and I emailed him this evening.
