Speaking of our favorite vegetable we call sitaw and uttong, such good for dinengdeng dish, ginataan (in coconut milk) and salad or pickled, string beans is such a good veggies.
But which is which? What is the best variety for the dish. Soup dish is not applicable for purple beans because the soups get purple too so the best variety is green. Though salad is purple is recommended.
Which do you prefer?

We do not have purple beans here but do have long and short ones. Once I did get long beans in my garden.

@ilocosboy I usually just steam them. Then add some margarine, spices and crushed garlic.

i like the green string beans, and i like it half-cooked, wherein it is crispy when you bite it, and more if cooked in adobo. the sitaw (string beans) should not be overcooked.

The kids who bully me as a kid calls me a string bean. I am tempted to use steroids anytime I remember that. I want to be so buff , big and imposing that no one will try to mess with me.

I just searched about the purple string beans and I was surprised to know people have grown them here in my country for quite long. I wonder how come I've never seen them in the market.
