I walked all the way home today from Isaac's house this morning. The morning smelled fresh, but anything might have smelled fresh after a night sitting in Isaac's room smoking, drinking and playing cards. Isaac lives out beyond Goyave: I suppose most of the world except Goyave itself lives out beyond Goyave. His grandmother left her house to him and his wife when she died; then his wife left him and after all that leaving there was nothing to do other than to stay, and Isaac's been staying ever since. I love these mornings after a night of cards. I start and end those nights with no money and have to walk home through early mist before the sun burns it off.
