Day 51 Jeremiah 49:34 49:34 The word of the LORD that came to Jeremiah the prophet against Elam in the beginning of the reign of Zedekiah king of Judah, saying, 35 Thus says the LORD of hosts; Behold, I will break the bow of Elam, the chief of their might. 36 And upon Elam will I bring the four winds from the four quarters of heaven, and will scatter them toward all those winds; and there shall be no nation whither the outcasts of Elam shall not come. 37 For I will cause Elam to be dismayed before their enemies, and before them that seek their life: and I will bring evil upon them, even my fierce anger, says the LORD; and I will send the sword after them, till I have consumed them: 38 And I will set my throne in Elam, and will destroy from thence the king and the princes, says the LORD. 39 But it shall come to pass in the latter days, that I will bring again the captivity of Elam, says the LORD. There is a saying, it’s always darkest before the dawn. When trouble comes our way, one crisis after another so we don’t see any way out, we wonder when it will end. Yet we always hope. To know who Elam was, you need to go back to Genesis again, though not to Abraham, but Noah. Elam was Shem’s firstborn son, but not the generator of the Messianic line. Genesis 10:21 Unto Shem also, the father of all the children of Eber, the brother of Japheth the elder, even to him were children born. 22 The children of Shem; Elam, and Asshur, and Arphaxad, and Lud, and Aram. (KJV) Elam became a mighty nation, whose king was Chedorlaomer, who went up against the king of Sodom and took Lot and his family captive. Abram went up against Chedorlaomer and defeated him, and rescued Lot and his family. Elam stood against Israel, even though Israel was not a nation yet, but would be through Abram who later became Abraham, through whom the children of promise were born. However, Elam also went up against the Amalekites, who would be affiliated with Esau. We know the Amalekites went up against Israel and God vowed to utterly destroy them. Therefore, there is redemption for Elam, and God promised them, that though they came against Israel, they were worthy of redemption, and promised to bring them back from their captivity. As Christians, you too have a history that pitted you against God before you broke the chains of bondage to Satan, and accepted Jesus as Savior and Lord. You were on your way to hell, but God found you worthy of redemption. When everything looks dark, and you can’t find a way out of the darkness, God shines a light in your life, the light of Jesus Christ, giving you hope that you will come out of the darkness, and the problems you are facing. Just as God redeemed Elam, he redeemed you through the precious blood of Jesus Christ, as he hung on Calvary’s cross, giving his life in exchange for yours. Your captivity is over, and you are free to live your life as a child of the living God. Let’s pray: Father, thank you for redeeming me, for finding me worthy of your love and redemption. Help me to give you praise every day for the love you showed me on Calvary’s cross. In Jesus’ name, I pray, amen. Copyright © 10 December 2017 by Valerie Routhieaux Image courtesy of Pixabay

Another good message. Yes, where would we be without the hope of redemption.?

Thank you. Without redemption we would be on our way to Hell. I'm so glad God sent Jesus to be our Redeemer.
