The Winchendon Massachusetts Fire Department is thankful for an eyewitness and several rescue teams for getting a man out of his auto after he drove his auto into Hunts Pond on Sunday morning. The auto fell into Hunts Pond which is located off Spring Street. An eyewitness to the accident called 9-1-1 to report the accident. The Winchendon Police arrived quickly. When they saw that the man was inside his auto sinking into the pond, the Winchester Fire Department and a dive team arrived . The man who was inside his auto managed to get onto the roof safely but since the auto was sinking fast, Lieutenant Peters throw a rope toward the man who was on top of the roof and he told him to put the rope around his waist so he could be taken back to solid ground. The man who was rescued from the sinking auto is all right thanks to the quick thinking of an eyewitness and the rescue team.
