The Peter Pan Pantomime

I had a lovely couple of days down in Wellington over the weekend, the highlight of which was attending the Peter Pan Pantomime. Before I went I was concerned about how good my seat would be, as I purchased the last remaining seat for the performance I attended and thought it may have been the worst seat in the house. I needn't have been worried at all, the seat was excellent and I enjoyed the entire performance. The script had been written by two local writers and set in Wellington, our capital city. Most of the slapstick that one finds in pantomimes was based on New Zealand politicians and political references and was both clever and funny. The audience at the matinee I attended were largely senior citizens and the event was like a huge seniors party. Everyone enjoyed the show and I have decided that if I'm able I'll go down to Wellington for the Christmas pantomime next year. It was a real treat. If you get the chance to go to a Christmas pantomime, make the most of the opportunity. I'm glad I did.

OMG!!!! My granddaughter performs in that every year off Broadway!!!!!!! This year she couldn't tap, because of her fractured heel. But she sang, spoke, and had three different costume changes.

I remember you booked the last available seat and I am glad it was not a problem and you enjoyed the Pantomime.

Even going on my own as I did didn't detract from my enjoyment.

Where you sit is really important. Some auditoriums have arrangements that if anyone wants to get up the others have to make way as the space between rows is too narrow.

I'd forgotten that this theatre had a flexible performance space, so it really was great. I think any sea in the house would have been good.

That would have been so much fun. I've never been to a pantomime.

Its worth taking the opportunity if you can, especially a local one. I'd forgotten how much they are geared toward adult humour rather than children

@valmnz I've been to revues written with the local 'adult' population in mind and some of them are very funny.

It's tough to make a pantomime out of Peter Pan, seems like an interesting show.
