The Most Wonderful Time of the Year

This comes from @FayeHazel who suggested we post what we do and don't like about Christmas and this time of year. So, I am picking up the challenge gauntlet.
What I don't like -
That's easy. All the rushing, and commercialism, and gotta have it attitude that has taken over this season.
I don't like that when I need to go shopping I can't find a parking space because everybody and their aunt Matilda is in there trying to buy every last item for Christmas. Now, don't get me wrong, it's only the parking spaces I don't like because I can't find any.
I don't like the hands reaching out for donations of every type to every organization, either in the mail or on the phone. No thank you. If I want to donate, I'll reach out.
Okay, that pretty much sums up what I don't like about this time of year.
Now on to what I do like -
Snow is my number one like for this time of year. I start looking for it in October, and this year I wasn't disappointed, especially with the seven inches we got yesterday.
I love Christmas songs. I usually have them on all day, playing on my TV while I work away in here.
I love getting together with family and friends, and sitting down to a wonderful holiday meal.
I love shopping. See, I told you it was only the parking spaces I don't like. Though this year, I did my shopping online because of those hard to find parking spaces.
I love the joyous feeling this time of year generates. People are generally happier, and that makes me happy. It's so easy to smile when everyone is happy.
I love that this is the season of love and giving. It's when I celebrate the birth of my Savior and Lord, Jesus Christ, and think about the reason why he was born in a stable, why shepherds sought him out, why wise men traveled from far distant lands, and why angels sang of his birth.
God gave the first present of Christmas, with his Son's birth, a present that means my salvation. There is no more meaningful present than that. And yes, I do like getting presents too, not just giving them.
I love the look on people's faces when they open the gifts I got for them. That's the best part of Christmas. It makes my heart swell and the smile gets larger.
It truly is the most wonderful time of the year. Thanks for reading.

I like spending time with my family making our Christmas ravioli. That is an over 150 year old family tradition from our ancestors in Italy. And the actual holiday where we spend the day together, exchanging presents to put a smile on each other's faces, eating good food, and just enjoying our family. I like the holiday lights and music. I like the week off from work.
I dislike the crowds everywhere, the commercials that start before Halloween, the Black Friday sales in stores that start on Thanksgiving morning so sales people can't spend the day with their family.

A lot of great reasons for loving Christmas, and I agree I hate all the crowds when shopping.

Your post was beautiful, just like you and your soul are.
I forgot - yeah sometimes I need things , groceries or other and you're right parking and crowds are huge because of everyone out for Christmas
I also forgot that it is true, people do seem a bit more kind around this time of year.
And Jesus is the reason for the season always :-)

Thank you. People are friendlier and it makes it easy to be friendly.
