112 is the emergency number in Belgium. But it is also the name of smartphone app. I find the app very helpful. It asks you to fill in your personal, medical and contact information. In case of emergency, you can quickly dial 112 and they will be able to locate you based on the information you provided and based on the location service on your phone. In case of emergency, the emergency team will also have access to the medical information provided, which could be vital. This could save many lives. Do you have quick access to the emergency number on your phone?

Our emergency numbers are 117 and 118, call one of them and they will put you in touch with the service who has to take care of you.

No, I'm not sure if that is even available in the US, but it's a great idea. They would know what medical conditions you have upon arrival, right?

Yes. All the time needed to obtain information about medical conditions could be saved and starting the first aid (or whatever the emergency is) would be much sooner.

The emergency number in North America is 911. I don't have it programmed into my phone. It's too easy to misdial, bum dial....it's easy enough to dial, key in the number.

The good thing about the app is that they can locate you immediately just by calling them. And they can see all your necessary info.
