An off duty police officer who was at a Costco store named Captain Michael Howell acted in self defense when he rubbed out Ronald Hunt who was a suspect in a robbery on November 26, 2017. Johnson County District Attorney Steve Howe will not prosecute Captain Howell since the robbery suspect Ronald Hunt made threats against the customers at the store when Howell told the suspect that he was a police officer and he issued an order to Hunt to put down his weapon. When Hunt went after Howell to attack him when Howell shot and rubbed out Hunt. The good deal was that no one inside the Costco store was harmed during the robbery attempt in Lenexa Kansas.

That off duty police officer was only doing what he's trained to do. Ronald Hunt meant bodily harm, he had to be put down.
