MyLot won’t let you post bad words.

The other day I tried to post a comment that included a bad word (well it wasn’t that bad) and it didn’t let me post it. There was a message in red below the comment asking me to fix the bad word before posting my comment. That’s pretty neat and helps keep mylot clean. I haven’t seen anything like that on other forum-based sites where the use of bad words and insults is much more common than here. They do have a report option but that requires a lot of work by admins. Have you ever been blocked from posting because your comment had a bad word?

Some words you wouldn't think are that bad to be banned.

What are 'bad' words anyway? Words like ice-cream and cakes are bad if you are on a diet but they pass on here

Neither do I. This one wasn't really bad and I said it to describe a war criminal.

If you find it necessary to use a cuss word just replace some of the letters with an asterisk like A**hole.

I thought about doing that but the whole purpose is to ban what those words mean no matter how you write them.

Not really a good idea to suggest that methinks @@josie_ The Guidelines tell us Using misspellings to circumvent the profanity filter - This is not the place to show-off any colorful language

Facebook is blocking some posts now as well the ones I heard of it happening to were political posts. I made a typo the other day and it autocorrected to another word and when I went to submit the post said I made a bad word. I got a chuckle after seeing what it was.

Really? I have been seeing lots of bad words on Facebook recently. On political posts mostly. People insult each other in worse manners you can imagine. Maybe their filtering system doesn't work well yet

it is a nice feature they check all the words before letting us post it, saving the trouble for other users to report you

The site gets a little overboard because it will not allow some words I consider innocent.

It happened once, but I was ignorant of the fact that the word I used would be considered a bad word - I never use bad words.

It’s a completely innocent word but their filter system doesn’t recognise in which context it is used

You can't be blocked because your post wouldn't be accepted at all. The obscenity filter is a silly thing! It can't think! Until I understood its dirty mind I reposted and reposted a text until I nearly became crazy. I had used a word which in itself is harmless but it contains some letters which can be read as an insult. The definition is this: to laugh at someone or something in a silly and often unkind way The verb begins with the letter 's'. The following letters can be read as an insult to black people. Get it?

It took me a while but i got it. I understand how frustrated it must've been for you. I didn't know about the word filtering until the other day when it didn't let me post.

No, but since so many people are offended by bad words, then I think it's a good rule to have. Plus, I'm glad everyone must be polite here. Facebook drives me crazy with the cowardice of people saying whatever hateful thing they want.
