Conveniently, the theme of this new music countdown is songs with "new" in the title. We are at #9: "New Song" by Howard Jones. From his 1984 debut album, Humans Lib, "New Song" was Howard Jones' first single, released in 1983. The song reached #3 in both England and Ireland. A 1984 release reached #27 on the Billboard Hot 100, and Top 20 status in both Switzerland and Sweden. I got to meet Howard Jones after a concert in Denver. He's couldn't have been a nicer guy. Although he had kind of techno'd everything up, you could still recognize the songs. This was definitely a highlight. I've linked to the official video. It's just as fun and bouncy as the song itself. Enjoy! (Info verified by Wikipedia)

I liked it, but I don't think I ever heard it before.

It's kind of overshadowed by "Things Can Only Get Better," I think.

@TRBRocks420 - It was his first single. A lot of people didn't really know who he was. Then he blew up with other hits and I think everybody forgot about this one.

That's interesting, never heard a song called bouncy but think you are right sounds pretty bouncy. Not sure how else to describe it.

@FourWalls Yeah but did it sound bouncy. Like when Megadeth created the train guitar sound. does it sound like that?

Have you ever had a song pushed to the furthest recesses of your mind, then when you hear the first note you remember every syllable? That’s how it was when I watched that video. I like this better than “Things Can Only Get Better.”

Oh yes, that happens to me all the time. I think I like this better as well, if nothing else, because "Things Can Only Get Better" was overplayed so much back then.
