New Year's Day Celebrations

I am from the northeast of the USA and have been to New York City one New Years Eve. I have always wanted to go to Philadelphia to watch the Mummers Parade. I am looking into options now and hope I will get a chance to go there. We watch it for hours every New Years Day. I starts early in the morning and goes to late at night. Unfortunately it is not on tv in all areas and since being here in Florida I have not seen it.

I never heard of Mummers Parade, I hope they will show the parade on TV, so you can enjoy from Florida.

It is something only done in Philadelphia. We went many times when I was a kid growing up in the city

I haven't heard of a Mummers Parade. I hope you're able to find it on your TV.

Me to. It is like a marching band with lots of instruments but not like normal parades. The have string instruments and have costumes made with a lot of feathers. It is so beautiful with great happy music. The use a lot of banjos.

It is something only done in Philadelphia. I wonder if they are on you tube? I may have to check it out. As a kid I saw many of them.

Hi Nancy! Are you planning a trip up North for Christmas? I also enjoy the Mummer's parade on New Years. The outfits are tremendous! Hope your able to go in person

We are here in New Jersey but no one has mentioned about going to the parade. It will be over 2 hours to get there.

That is the best on a cold night. I went to New York one year and it was fun but the way the world is these days I don't know if I want to take a chance.

I never do new years things. Just sit and watch the countdown on tv and enjoy my relaxation.

Sometimes that is good to. I loved doing that when we lived in the Pocono Mountains and had a great fire going in the big fire place we had.

@Courtlynn right now I could use one as the house we are staying in is freezing. My girlfriend went to Texas for 2 weeks and we are staying in her house.
