What an emotional day

My husband and I drove 2 days to be with the kids for Christmas and New Years. We see them a few times a year as we moved out of the northeast of the United States to way down south Florida. We moved four years ago and I still miss the cold winters and beautiful snow. We never tell the kids we are coming up as we like to see the looks on their faces. Today we had a special emotional surprise as my daughter finally got her first letter from my grandson since he joined the Navy. He is through with one month of boot camp and has a graduation after another month of training. After that we are told he is going for training to become a Navy Seal. We are all concerned about this but he has to follow his dream. It seems there are so many shows on television about military training and fighting. It is so nice to see a young man, he is 20, follow his dream even though he knows how scary it is for this in these days. Hearing from him is the greatest Christmas gift of all.

You are all right in letting him follow his dream, he would regret the rest of his life if someone would have prevented him to join the Navy.

I have always supported my children and this seems harder as I see the way the world us going. I am very scared but can't let him know that.

Boot camp is the worse thing to go through. After that training. A lot of men and women do not even make it through boot camp.

Becoming a US Navy Seal is difficult. The dropout rate is 80% Their training is one of the toughest among the world's special forces (second only to the British SAS)
