@Sambriel Yes I can tell that we celebrate that holiday as Jews, in the memory for the Hasmoneans (Ancient Jews) victory in the revolt against the Greeks. I promise to write a post about it:)

@Sambriel it is not our main festival. It has more of a commercial interest here. There are some programs with songs and dance in Residential society, where cake and other things are distributed afterwards. Shopping Malls are decorated and there are special events- but more from a commercial angle. Frankly, I believe that the real meaning of many a festivals has been diluted due to the commercial noise, pomp and show. Perhaps the blinding lights of all these shows and celebrations dim the pure essence of the festivals.

@Sambriel share my thoughts with other folks, write my opinions in Blogs and through articles. It won't be anything drastic like protests or seminars etc.
