Life changing decisions

Three months ago I decided to become a Christian. Many people are against that and that's fine, I'm not here to judge anyone. I just want to share my story. For many years I wasn't a believer in God and I thought Christianity was just a way for religious leaders to control people. I was so wrong. Being a Christian introduced me to the most wonderful people I've ever met in my entire life. I'm not talking about the, go to church on Sunday and then go talk behind people's back type Christians, I'm talking about genuine, loving, honest, make you feel like family, true, honest whether you like it or not Christians. Before I became a Christian I was living a horrible life and always searching for happiness in the wrong things and always coming out more miserable and disappointed than I was to begin with. I was one of those people that would call people "Holy roller" "Bible thumper" and all the typical idiotic names I could think of. I am proud to be called those names now. I can't put into words how good it feels to be a christian. It's honestly something you have to truly do for yourself to know how good it is. If you think you've tried it and didn't feel that feeling then you haven't truly became a Christian. I used to be that person also, go to church on Sunday and never really expecting anything or changing anything in my life so I was getting what I was giving, which was basically nothing. Christians are viewed by many as rude, judgemental, fake, believers of fairy tales etc. I know I had those same thoughts about Christians before truly living on the other side. I'm not on here trying to "convert" anyone. I am just simply wanting to share my story because the happiness I feel inside is so awesome and I think everyone deserves to feel it. I've read a lot of comments online about how Christians are "weak". I won't ever understand that because as Christians we are commanded to love and be kind to everyone even people that are rude and hateful. That takes strength to do. Anybody can retaliate and throw harsh words around, that's the easy part. True strength is when someone is cursing you or beating you up and you can still look them in the eye and say, "I forgive you." Not many people are able to do that. Christians are commanded to do it, they don't have a choice. Well they do but the wrong choice ends with an even worse punishment. Anyway as I said I'm not trying to tell anyone what to believe I am simply sharing my story. The moral of my story is, Spread the love and make this world a better place. Goodnight. For anyone that wants my reason for being a Christian it's because God gave his only son Jesus to die for me and I think if the world loved each other enough to give of themselves, There would be a lot less hate. Spread the love and let's make this world a great place for the future generations to come regardless of your belief. We are all human living on this planet with one life. Let's make it worth living.

I guess religion doesn't matter because what matters most is our faith towards God. That is what Christian means. A believer of Christ. =)

Yes it would be. I believe a lot of the problem with Christianity is because sadly there are people who simply go to church on Sunday and they think that's all there is to it so they label themselves Christian and treat others wrong and give Christianity a bad name. I believe if you want to be a Christian you should go to church but if you're not going to learn then you're not going for the right reasons and one is not a Christian simply because they go to church anymore than someone is a pilot simply because they ride in an airplane. Even non believers are welcome in church but as I said if you're not going for the purpose of learning then why go?

What an absolutely amazing explanation of what it really means to be a born again believer in Jesus Christ! You're right, true Christianity is not a religion, it's a relationship with God, his son Jesus, and the Holy Spirit. God bless you, my brother.

@gimitchelray happens in every religion.... The so called idealists are the ones who go off track because of their own inability to understand a thing beyond their scope of thinking

I agree we should all love and respect each other and that's what true Christians are taught but some people carry the Christian label on themselves and completely go against what they are truly taught.

One should be comfortable with our faith or even no faith for that matter. Love and compassion is what all faiths teach us - siva

I agree with your statement for the most part but to me, having faith in nothing for me was a sad and miserable life because I had the mindset that we just struggle through life feeling empty and die and that's it. Life without hope and faith is depressing.

Humanity is the most important thing. Religion is a personal choice and we should respect everyone's choice.

There are some taking their religious background very serious. It appears as if so many have become quite sensitive when it comes to religious discussions.

I don't take anything serious other than God and helping people. That is all that life is about in my opinion. If you're not helping people then you aren't helping the growth of humanity or the love that God himself gave. People think that God is just an evil man in the sky with a bunch of rules when in reality all his "rules" teach true love for each other.
